Snow day...take 2(for real this time!)

Do I live in Texas? I thought I did but then days like this make me wonder! I knew bad weather was predicted but you know....life goes on. So I was out and about running errands for the trip to China and I came out of Target and it was starting to snow again. Quite a bit of slush on the ground so I think to myself "self, you need to get home toot suite"(my sister loves it when I say that). By the time I get back to where I live the snow is almost blinding. And it is accumulating fast on my windshield. And the traffic!! So smartie pants Amy decides to get off the highway and take the back road around my neighborhood to get to my house. Not smart. There are lots of hills back there and I almost didn't make it up one. Right about then my sister, Sara, calls me and tells me that she heard they are closing the schools in our district. That we needed to go pick up our kids. So that is what I did. Right at the same time as every other parent. It was a lovely time. By the time I parked, walked up to the school, got the kids back in the car and home I was soaked! But the fluffy white stuff was calling my kids names so we bundled back up and headed out for some snowball fighting, snowman making fun! We're in now and I think its supposed to keep snowing over night. We've already gotten 6 inches maybe more since around noon. I'm pretty sure we won't have school tomorrow but you won't be hearing me tell my kids that just quite yet. The craziness that happens....you know what I mean! But then just like Texas it should be back up in the 70's by next week.

The view from my front porch

Trying to pose for a picture. The snow was slapping them in the face because it was coming in sideways.

Snowball fight!! This ended in tears because *someone* hit *somebody* in the face.

Mr. Snowman-we made him all from "nature". His mouth and nose were berries and his eyes were leaves. Oh, Natalie took her hat off and gave it to him. She was freezing...

Hi Amy,
Same for us here. I was actually at Midevial times in Dallas on a field trip with Kailee when the teachers started rushing us out. School's were closing in Sherman and the roads were getting bad. What should have been a 1 hour trip home turned into three..but, all snuggled in for the evening, well, our teenager is out sledding with classmates...
CANT WAIT to watch you travel next week. I have become ok with going the 27th, three weeks from today we will be passing you in the air...
OH, missing a gymnastics meet in Corinth the 6th..would have been fun to have lunch.

I can't believe all that snow you got today! It was very cold here in San Antonio but no snow. Anyhow, I've enjoyed reading your blog and look forward to meeting you in China!

Seriously, yesterday it was so nice, today? Crazy!!! I think I know what "back roads" you are talking about...I was on the same ones! The traffic was ridiculous! I attempted to go home, but am ending up sleeping at the "office"! Ha! I couldn't get out of the neighborhood! Love the snow pictures of your kids!

What's crazier is that 60 miles south of you....all we got was rain. Cold. Wet. Rain. Yuck. I was so hoping for snow. So it looks like we will DEFINITELY be having school tomorrow.

Wow! How fun! I'm with Sara...here in our neck of the woods, it was sleet and rain, but not much in the department of snow and snowmen!! Glad y'all got some good time out in it! :)
