Today, December 28, is a very special day around here! That was the day...one year ago today...that Rhett was placed in our arms forever!! And even though he entered our family in a rather stressful season he adjusted so completely well! Probably better than his parents did, that's for sure! He came to us so unsure of everything...he had a home as far as he was concerned and was taken right out of it. And even though it was for the best he didn't understand that. He was loved quite well at the orphanage that he lived in for the first 2 years and 8 months of his life and for that I will be forever grateful! But the love of a family is something different and I thank God every single day that I get to be his mommy! He is full of energy...full of life...full of mischief....full of surprises....and full of love! I wouldn't change one thing about this boy. I know I work alot harder now that he is in our family...he keeps me on my toes(I had to get up 5 times just typing this paragraph to go see what he was up to)! But I'm so thankful that God made him the way he is. He is a fighter...a survivor...and just plain awesome! Last night, Rhett got his fingers slammed in a door and he was really hurting! I scooped him up in my arms, got an icepack, and went and laid him on my bed and snuggled with him for awhile. He was whimpering quite a bit. I needed to get up to check on Adiah but when I started to move he began to cry alot and he said "Mommy, don't go bye bye. Don't leave". And I know he was talking about not wanting me to leave the room but I couldn't help but think to myself.."I'm NEVER going to leave you Rhett. Never. You are forever mine!" Rhett, mommy and daddy love you so much! Happy Forever Family Day, buddy!
December 28, 2009...not too sure about what was happening
Meeting mommy for the first time...
Back at the hotel daddy tried to break the ice by giving him a pen and paper...we joked that he was probably trying to write a "SAVE ME" letter!
This was his home for the first couple years of his life...
Fast forward one year...happy, silly, fabulous little boy!
He loves all of us so much. Adiah and Rhett have a special bond! Sure they fight but what brother and sister don't?
Look at that face! What is he up to now?
Forever ours!

That's my boy... My son!
My blessing. Thank you Lord.
Bw
What a blessing he has been to our family. He just keeps us hopping, doesn't he? :) I love his smile and the way he loves his mommy, daddy, brother and sisters. He was meant to be a Woods!
Well you know how much I love that kid (cuz I think I tell you every time I see him)! Happy Gotcha Day sweet Rhett!
I love it. Such a sweet, sweet post. I can't wait to meet him. Yall are such a blessing to him, I know that. What a lucky little boy, and it sounds like his momma enjoys being his momma, too! :)
Happy one year as a new family!
And I'll be praying for you on your next venture...
