My nail guy really likes 4th of July and stay at home mom's have it SO easy....(ahem, cough, cough)

Really. I wish someone would have told me that being a stay at home mom would be so easy.

No really.

Even my nail guy thinks so. I know this because he sort of told me that yesterday.

Go with me for a minute.....its a lovely story.

Yesterday Brian was home in the morning and I had enough time to sneak off and get my nails done. I had something I was doing today and I really wanted my nails to look purty for it, mmmkay? So I run the kids to their drama camp and go to my neighborhood nail salon. The owner of the salon likes to talk to me. He's a super friendly guy. And he loves the fact that I have Asian children because he is Asian himself. Anyhoo, he saw me and came over to have a little chatty chat. This is how it went....

Nail Guy(lets call him NG for the rest of this post): You like 4th of July? You going on vacation for 4th of July?

Me: I DO like 4th of July, thanks! And no, we're staying home. We've made plans here in town.

NG: I really like 4th of July. I like how there are parades and people throw candy. Small towns have good parades. People take day off from work. You go swimming. You see fireworks. I like 4th of July.

Me: YES! Thats true. I like 4th of July too. I like to eat BBQ and stuff. Yup.

NG: I like how you get day off of work for 4th of July.

Me: (bursting his little bubble) Yes, thats nice. But unfortunately 4th of July is on a Sunday this year. So you're already off of work, aren't you? ( I know...I'm mean. I don't know why I said that. Just trying to make conversation)

NG: Oh. But in professional world if 4th of July is on a weekend you either get Monday after 4th of July or Friday before 4th of July off from work.

Me: Ah. Ok. Wow, wish I got 4th of July off.

NG: (Hearty belly laugh) But you stay at home mom's get MANY more days off.

Me: *blank stare*

Yes, he really did say that.

The End.

Hysterical! More importantly, I'd like to know what you're doing that you needed your nails to look perdy for?! Hum... :)
Seriously though, you mean you consider this whole stay at home thing a job??? HA!

Ok- I'm going to stick up for NG a little bit because I used to think the same thing-- I used to roll my eyes when my SAHM friends would say things like, "Oh we've just been SO BUSY." Doing what, sister, you don't have anywhere to be between 8-5???? Hahahaha, joke was on me!! But seriously, it is impossible to understand a life without breaks unless you've lived it. You could try by telling NG to imagine if he could never lock the door of the nail salon and could possibly have a full set walk through the door at 2 am. Thus is the life of a woman of leisure, I mean, a stay at home mom :)

Happy 4th to you and NG!

I knew this is where this was going. Yeah, no days off for us SAHMs.

Even the Prez was saying how nice it is that he is off Monday since we just got home … and I just sighed and said "wish I was." Of course he'll help around here but the point is there is no day off for Moms!

NG needs to be educated don't ya think?! LOL!

P.S. Jet lag is ROUGH.
